Many politicians seem to suggest that there is only one way to be an American (and patriotic).  As America is a melting pot there are of course millions of ways to be a US citizen including disagreeing with those politicians who talk nonsense.  Being a successful misfit as an American citizen makes perfect sense.  You are free to be yourself!
